Yoga teachers who complete an approved 200-hour teacher training program can earn the RYT designation. The RYT credential is also a requirement for advanced training. The 200-hour teacher training must include 20 hours of yoga anatomy training. There are many yoga schools offering these programs. However, the curriculum must be submitted to the Yoga Alliance for consideration.
There are three levels of RYT training. The 200-hour certification is the first level of training. A 500-hour certification requires a minimum of 500 hours of training, and is the highest international standard for yoga teachers. This certification allows you to register as an Advanced Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance, and is recognized internationally. During the training, you'll learn about yoga anatomy and physiology and practice the different meditation techniques.
